In the meanders of this oriental but not-so oriental city of Istanbul, Müge Yilmaz, was brought to light in 1985. Delightfully dragged from city to city around the world, she would spend many years refining the particular strains of personal idiosyncrasy that would be so critical to her current day work. In the meantime she would cultivate a large mobile library and decide to settle for a while in the Italian Peninsula.
However, far from rendering her a person of inordinate seriousness, Müge to this day holds simple youthful exuberance in the highest regard, still taking time out to dance through the clouds as often as possible. The preference for interior splendor with an eye on scientific method over vague relativism has long accompanied Müge’s journey, as well as a correspondent fascination with the potential of artifact – especially as it relates to the immediacy and nuance of typography and photography.
